| Support from a distance |

Times are changing and so does support from a distance. When support from a distance was new, it was done over a telephone modem. That was done with an old fashioned analogue telephone line communicating through a serial port with the PLC in the central control panel. Besides that is was very slow, it was also very difficult to include the automatic transport cars in this mode of support. The support of the control of the carts was very difficult or nearly impossible. Technology has improved by leaps and bounds since then. This has resulted that old analogue connections no longer are supported and that those old telephone modems are no longer available or very hard to come by, however newer and better support is now readily available.

Nearly everyone has a continuous stable internet connection. This makes support over a VPN (Virtual Private Network) quick, economical and simple. Now we communicate via the Ethernet with the PLC in the central control panel and nowadays it is also possible through WI-FI with the PLC’s in the ATC’s. Assistance with the controls is now very easy by communicating through the VPN with the Dat-A-Control server.
